The Steering Group Are


Dr Malcolm Rigler, M.B,Ch.B; D.(Obs) R.C.O.G.General Practitioner and Health policy Adviser,Partners in Health (Midlands) Ltd.: 
Malcolm is a G.P. in South Wales and has long been campaigning for a radically different approach to Health care in the U.K. that includes attendance to Spiritual, Emotional and Environmental needs as well as Physical and Mental Health care. It was his vision for this that resulted in the very first UK conference on Parish Nursing back in 2001. 

Revd. Helen Wordsworth, R.N., R.M., R.H.V.(tutor), R.N.T.,Dip.Rel Studies, M.Th. Coordinator of Steering Group and Curriculum Development group
Helen is a Baptist Regional minister with the Central Baptist Association. Her task is developing wholistic mission enterprises with 156 churches and this enables her to use the skills gained in community health to encourage churches to be more involved in Health ministry. Her interest in this area was strengthened as a result of completing a Masters in applied theology degree dissertation on Parish nursing as a mission opportunity for U.K. Churches. In 2004 she won the American Memorial chapel travel grant of the English Speaking Union which has enabled closer links between Parish nursing in the U.K. and the U.S. as well as the commencement of a World Forum for Parish Nursing. Helen coordinates the Central and North West Pilot schemes. Helen Wordsworth

Mrs Lynda Bickley, M.A.,R.N., R.M., R.N.T. D.M.S.,Dip.Counselling, (Curriculum Development group)
Lynda was Principal of Coventry and Warwickshire College of Nursing and Midwifery until its merge with Coventry University in 1995. She has since pioneered a community care service in inner city Birmingham and is a core leader of a newly planted Baptist cell church. She is professional consultant to a Care Home Charity and has lectured with the Open University. She has a diploma in aromatherapy and has recently completed a diploma in theology. Lynda coordinates some of the South West, Wales and Birmingham pilot schemes.
Lynda Bickley

Revd. Debbie Hodge, R.N., R.N.T. B.Sc, P.G.D.E., Cert.Theology (Curriculum Development Group)
Debbie has recently been appointed Secretary for Free Church Health Care Chaplaincy Secretary, Churches Together in England. She is a URC minister and Nurse tutor and her nursing background includes the initiation and development of a specialist area of nursing practice…day care surgery. Debbie coordinates some of the London-based pilot schemes.

Dr Geoff Waghorn MB BS MRCGP MRCS LRCP (Company Secretary):
Geoff was a G.P in Northamptonshire for many years, for part of that time as Managing Partner. He is now active in community development, and works as a benefits adviser with a welfare rights group. He has an interest in poverty and health. He is an Elder in his local Baptist Church.

Professional adviser: Revd. Dame Sarah Mullally, R.N., D.B.E.
Sarah was Chief Nursing Officer at the Department of Health until 2004. She has now taken up a curacy in the Diocese of Southwark, and joined the Steering Group. She has provided invaluable links with people who have expertise in the field of monitoring practice, and developing new initiatives in Nursing. 

Mr.Clive Donald (Partners in Health): 
Clive is an Anglican, and was one of the founder members of the Steering group. He has served the group in managing the accounts and offering experience from his career in volunteer coordination

Mr Mike Murkin
Mike has over 20 years experience as a mental health social
worker, manager and commissioner. He has been a member of the Mental
Health Act Commission. Since 2001 he has been Director of St Martin's
Centre for Health and Healing, a charity attached to an inner city chuch
in Birmingham, providing a range of health and social care orientated
services.

Mr.Alan Yates
Alan is Chief Executive of Mersey Care NHS Trust, the provider of mental health and learning disability services in North Merseyside, and a leader of Toxteth Tabernacle Baptist Church, Liverpool. This church is situated in an area of deprivation and has been a pioneer of faith-based community regeneration projects
